Asian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association (ANMA) was started in March 2008 with the following aims: (a) to pursue a standardized care of patients suffering from gastrointestinal motility and functional disorders in Asia, (b) to do research on these diseases in Asia, (c) to exchange knowledge in these diseases through regular conferences and meetings, and (d) to encourage and advance the knowledge in gastrointestinal motility and functional diseases in Asia in all possible ways.

The 1st Biennial Congress of the ANMA was successfully held at Seoul, Korea in April 2009. 2nd Biennial congress of ANMA was successfully held at Beijing, China on March 3-5, 2011. The next congress will be held in Penang, Malaysia in March 2013.
